Floating objects is something very intriguing...something that scared some and ignited a curiosity and appreciation in others...it was part of the surrealist movement...the ideology of creating art in a way that showcased lots of sparce space with objects seemingly floating in thin air. It was a movement...yet it has a cult like following...and with any cult like following it has its detractors...who were the traditionalists of the period...those who fought the bizarre nature of surrealist conceptual art...for more traditional styles and quite literally divided people simply over how they decorated their homes. It was the 1950's after all...when society was strict and non conformity was just beginning to emerge.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 36 inches wide of a premier pattern of textured 1950's barkcloth in brand new crisp unused condition. I have 3YDS available being sold by the yard.....it is a very rare example of mid century kineticism...the idea of free floating objects...brought about by the advancement of science and space exploration...gravity and the concept of combining art and technology...using color and pattern...a color circus of pops that help make this art seemingly jump from the fabric...a ground of industrial bold aqua celadon green...seafoam...minty aqua...all would apply...shapes in colors of blood orange meets tangerine...banana yellow....sweet jadeite lime...turquoise green...fabulous chartreuse citron with black and white accents. Expect immaculate...unused...unwashed...something you'll never find again. FLAWLESS.
