I am the OZ behind Florida Bungalow...you can't see me...but I pull ALL the strings :)

My collecting is a result of the trauma of a seven year old boy who lost his pop pop...i found comfort in surrounding myself with all things pop pop...and barkcloth early on was my go to drug of choice...I've always been in the pursuit of vintage junque...since I was old enough to ride without training wheels I was visiting yard sales in the neighborhood...that penchant only grew and when I found myself in Miami Beach's South Beach in the late 80's I was fortunate enough to inherit a motherload of barkcloth from hotel cleans outs and buying a vintage fabric shop closed for decades. I sat on what I had and picked it up anywhere I could...not really knowing its history or name...there was no internet...so finding the name was not easy...it wasn't until the internet and auction sites that I learned it was called barkcloth...soon after I started selling at local flea markets and textile shows...and left my career in social services to exclusively design...sell and work with my vintage textiles. It's been 45 years since losing pop pop...but everywhere I look I see him and nana...and that just helps get me through life a tad bit easier.
