The collision of Miami Beach and Hawaii were paralelling simultabeously on opposite coasts...the tropical designs and the spirit of aloha inspired the opening of many Hawaiiana venue platforms in hotels...restaurants...drive in cottages on the beach front in the northern Miami enclave of Surfside and Bal Harbor...but most remarkably and what is historically still open and in its original spendor is the Mai Kai Restaurant on Ft Lauderdale. The A frame style Hawaiian resort style venue had Polynesian Revues...Hula Dancing...and traditional island fare. It is a santuary to many tiki enthusiasts who travel the world in search of proper and true vintage Hawaiana.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide of a spectacular unused old stock yardage...I have 10YDS available being sold by the yard...still crisp and new as it was some 80 years ago...a prize for designers and collectors alike who have an appreciation for the Hawaiiana designs coming out of the 40's and 50's that showcase fabulous ornate details such as these brilliant bamboo lattice pieces...no details were spared...look closely as you are looking at the actual design of a artist who first conjured up this design for Spectrum Fabrics 75 years ago. Coupled with INTOXICATING turquoise greens...vibrant lime...ELECTRIFIED CHARTREUSE honeydew lime...cool creamy turquoise green...with tons of dramatic chocolates in dark and creamy...with black writing on a white ground. Signed like that of a movie star "Spectrum Original Vat Color Print". Expect store bought...time travel transportive 1944. Brand new. In the last photo I circled a small print imperfection...hard to see...and for some who love unusual print character flaw that to some make it more valuable.
