The designers of the mid century stopped at nothing to bring eclectic and diverse styles to the design table...and the asian designs were ones that were very popular...some were traditional....mid century and also kitsch. This one depicts sanctuaries.....temples with monks feeding doves...playing a gittern...there are pagodas and a chinese ornate lattice that surrounded each scene...this would have been a more high end fabric...maybe you could have imagined them in a dining room of a exquisite NYC brownstone in Gramercy Park...maybe the interior designer would have used a bold lime lacquered table with draperies and chairs in this fabric.
This offering is for ONE YARD of unused unwashed original old stock. I have 15YDS available...being sold by the yard. A striking deep dark black ground that combined with the use of electric pops of limes and reds...just comes to life...such a clever use of color on black...grays...white...flesh tone...creamy sky blue...signed on the selvedge "A Kandell Design Guaranteed to be Vat Colors". This prized bolt has been in my collection for many years...making its debut today for collectors and designers alike. Expect mint cond.
