When it comes to some of the most fabulous and rare prints you can't argue this isn't one of em! These fab 1950's decorator prints were wildly iconic to the birth of American Chinese restaurants! The Catskills comes to mind where in the height of the mid century chinese restaurants were popping up all over the place. I had the opportunity in the 90's to do some Catskill archeological digs in these closed and abandoned restaurants...one notable place has fabric like this as curtains with turquoise leather banquette seating with fauz wood formica modern tables and the expected cedar paneling. It is in that spirit that I offer this rare iconic textile. I've never in all my years collecting...seen anything like it. In the kind of brand spanking BOLD AND CRAZY COLORS you can't even imagine!
This offering is for 2.5YDS (84/85 inches) x 49 inches wide of unused unwashed...extremely RARE chinois polished cotton yardage that has remained unused for all of these decades...a eye popping BOLD turquoise blue ground with some of the most rare chinois designs...lotus...and scenes of a Asian Dynasty...traditional dress...hats...a boy holding a bonsai...definitely a pattern and colorway unseen and so rare its priceless...tons of chartreuse yellow AND LIME...raisin purples...citron...minty green...cobalt...avocado lime...with black and white accents...this yardage is unused and I have more if you need it...ask and I'll list it...signed Dekor Guaranteed to be Vat Colors". Polished Cotton is a upholstery weight...strong paper thin cotton with a slight sheen...very slight and often referred to also as Everglaze This particular fabric is an extra wide width at 49 inches wide...which is another rare occurrence when normally these type prints are 35/36 inches wide. I could see fabulous privacy decor screens made from this...that would just be TOOOOOO intoxicating for words.
