This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide of a fabulous late 1940's early 1950's iconic barkcloth. I have 9YDS available being sold by the yard. The 50's was a time of really connecting with the out of doors...we were connecting to space...the solar system...we were advancing in technology...the machine age and as a species we were evolving more and more every day...as if the 50's gave us a root booster of some sort...minds were changing...people were evolving and recognizing space and science as paramount in the development of a advanced society...the trends were reflecting those attitude and ideals...and facts....weaving new advanced attitudes into cottons that would become iconic pieces of period history...not just simply in design...but connected to everything that was coming together at that particular time...when it came to commerce and the selling of goods...americans were also influenced by the outdoors...flowers and foliage...bringing the outdoors in....but the 50's did it is a way never done before...adding elements of modern into it...funky leaves and other living organisms on a large modernist abstract plaid...showcasing the simple details of exactly what was in the hearts and minds of designers and artists who were busy sketching and painting sample textile boards to present to the textile review boards...which was the first step to getting these delicious fabrics into the hearts and souls of living rooms and bedrooms around the world...A absolutely STUNNING dark chocolate ground becomes the canvas for which these biomorphic leaves...almost fossil like impressionistic abstracts...come to life through shape and color...in a way the artist/designer of this textile intended...something FUN...FABULOUS...ICONIC...and retro fitted to immerse right in a retro mid century decor...the wonder of a never before used vintage fabric is that you have the ability to transport yourself right here...right n0w...back to 1950...where you can grab your head scarf and cat eye glasses and get in your ravishing 1950 Fairlane...and drive to Sew and Fro on Main Street to purchase some fabric for that pillow or drapery project you've been waiting to surprise the dear hubby...once you return home from your humbled trip...and you step back inside your humble abode...this is a very heavy...treasured nubby relic...absolute perfection...true red...chartreuse yellow...deepest bottle green...with black and white accents on a dark chocolate ground...if you have a drive for mid century...a hankering for retro...a passion for barkcloth...well my friends...please allow me to introduce you...to...THIS divine Florida Bungalow masterpiece!
