Atomic played in many varied venues from mod to tiki and anywhere in between...it was a celebration of space an shapes...color...form...balance and capturing exactly what was going on in the social scene in the 1950's...activism...rebellion...a break in social order and on the cusp of the 1960's when society would undergo many changes in social norms...it is interesting how these societal norms played into the design arena...but they sure did...not everyone was on the same page and it was certain there were those who would look at this and just not understand what someone else saw in it...those attached to more formal mainstream styles...their minds simply were not able to shift...there is a quote that I think of "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything" George Bernard Shaw
This offering is for something very special...a pretty much unused atomic drapery panel...and it is LONG at 94 inches...I have 4 available...a nice medium weight barkcloth...lots of true red...dark lime...and black...on a creamy white ground...a simple colorway showcasing the magic of ATOMIC 50's and the trend that started a whole movement celebrating space and discovery...and a world of open mindedness...I have carefully and painstakingly deconstructed each panel before washing and remade it adding a luxe white...black out lining...creating a heavy HUGE art piece that allows no light to penetrate and gives an extra punch of color power as a result. Expect FLAWLESS.
Measures 44 inches wide x 94 inches long...washed to freshen...dried and ironed back into brand new 1950's mid century condition.
