If the idea of post Art Deco...Mid Century...Citron & Chocolate...make you fall to your knees in complete textile orgasm...well then this iconic tropical with a abstract tropical twist may be right up your alley...back in the day you may have entered your luxury suite in your oceanfront Miami Beach hotel...and feasted your eyes on a fabulously upholstered club chair beside a Danish Mod Eames style side table...or something left over from the Art Deco origination of when the hotel was built...a clever designer would switch out the textiles and keep some of the deco furnishings...as so often they trend with a Mid Century Modern vibe anyway...even some of the Eames pieces has inspiration in the Art Deco period...this unused yardage hails from the late 40's and most likely right around the 1950 mark where you can see the vibe of 1940's is embedded in its very existence.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 48 inches wide unused spectacular yardage of cotton barkcloth...a heavily traditional texture of barkcloth...just gorgeous...for those of us obsessed with texture...this is the one we have come to know as barkcloth...despite that there are 17 identified textures that were sold as barkcloth between 1931 and 1968. A color combo of pure enlightenment...a chartreuse citron and chocolate...the citron extremely difficult to find....mix in some very simple abstract art staples such as pure white...and stark black...makes for focusing the appreciation on the pattern rather than getting lost in a ton of added color...this designer knew what they were doing...today we look at these textile designers as inspirations for their minimalistic works that have become maximilistic in the world of textile collectors around the ...it is signed with a partial signature identifying it as a "Town & Country Guaranteed Vat Print" fabric...it is unused original old stock so it feels brand new...never washed!!
