Terrace Delights! 50's Palm Springs Ranch Vintage Fabric Drape Curtain Panels 8 Avail!

$395.00

Its been an interesting departure from old house downtown living...I've been living in old all of my adult life...from my 450 sqt foot little 1800's Ocean Grove bungalow at the beach to our huge whopping notorious Key West house we created on Pearl St in Jacksonville's revitalizing Springfield neighborhood...to leave that world of cottage living...two stories with lots of stairs...detached garages where we were lugging groceries for what seemed like a mile to the house...small parcels of properties that always made it easy for me to have dogs and create small lush gardens and fountains...for the time it was I adored old house living from the 1800's and early turn of the 20th century...but it was the allure of the conveniences of mid century living that made it the ultimate draw...one level living is much easier on the knees...especially carrying loads of barkcloth up and down the stairs all day...but we are realizing that we left old home living for the urban burbs right across the bridge from downtown...where now we have a view of downtown...rather than living in the view...see in 1958 Jacksonville built the Matthews Bridge...which opened up a whole new world of opportunity for baby boomers and the population boom that was happening in America as a result of innovation and the idea of mass production of goods...which created jobs as well as the need for more housing...the concept was creating dwellings that would lure downtown settlers to the burbs...with modern conveniences that were top of the line...modern kitchens with dishwashers...bathrooms with modern showers and sunken bath tubs...laundry facilities and garages attached...architects were thoughtful to put garages with doors right into the kitchen...with electric door openers on the garages...were about the most novel bonus circa 1960...sunken living rooms with built in planters for green space and pools in foyers for your Koi fish...centrally heated and air conditioned...with large yards for which to raise children and have lush gardens and privacy...whereas most front porches downtown were within a arm reach from your neighbor...offering a spotlight on privacy...but for those who were looking for friendship and entertainment...these suburban enclaves became popular for bohemian parties...fondue get togethers playing Scrabble...and the iconic celebration of a new form of front porch living...with lawn chairs set up right inside the garages...where you could ride through most mid century neighborhood and see modern dwellers leisurely sitting in their garages...but if all of that wasn't enough to draw downtown nesters...it was the architecture of modernism...geometrics...angles...curves and floor to ceiling windows to allow the outdoors inside...angled roofs...and the advent of patio living for barbecues as a departure from front porch living...in ground pools and a celebration of Japanese architecture...were just a few reasons people were making a SPLASH in the mid century burbs of the 20th century...

This offering is for ONE ready to hang drapery panel...a vintage rayon cotton mix of barkcloth with a silvery gold lurex thread weaved brilliantly through the fabric...a vanilla cream ground...with fabulous pops of aqua blue akin to the color of a creamy Tiffany box blue...with dark chocolate...coffee...silvery gold metallic...beige...with black accents that really highlight the drama of this design masterpiece...a acute Palm Springs mid century that exudes from it...the structure of angled roofing...Japanese gardens...patio living...screen walls that give decor as well as allowing the breeze to blow through...and of course this drapery wouldn't be nearly what it is without the fantastic patio table in aqua blue...just a wonderful nostalgic piece of textile art showcasing a period of time that can never be again...but don't let that stop you from seeking to recreate that mid century sweet spot in your own home and refuge from the world...Measures 40 inches wide x 84 inches long with a HUMONGO 7 inch hem....these are clean and in immaculate condition...these were stored incredibly well and obviously weren't used for very long...expect a DIVINE flawless drapery panel ready to hang with ring clips that give an extra balance of sophistication and class...
