Miami Beach Tropical Barkcloth Vintage Fabric Unused 1930's Old Stock Cotton Yardage 10YDS Avail

$195.00

There was something in the air it seemed right around 1940 when these fabrics were hitting the markets through the glory...sweat and tears of the hard work and invention of the machine age...which allowed for the mass production of goods to be created and transported around the country and in some cases around the world...it was the 1940's...the start of the big population boom that was ushered in by mass manufacturing of goods to supply the population increase...it was the start of big business and a mid century look at america bursting at its seams with industry...and with every factory or mill...came along with it a healthy and robust economy that had subdivisions popping up everywhere...nearby every factory was a neighborhood created for its workers...the textile mills of the time dotted the eastern coastline from Maine to the Carolinas...where production was under way to keep up with the trends of designers and housewives who were eager to decorate their homes...at the same time travel was more innovative as ever...americans were traveling for recreation by air and by boat...train and by bus...able to see parts of the country and world that at one time was restricted to the aristocrats and elites...sunny tropical places like Florida...California and of course Hawaii...inspiring a design movement of tropical trends that would still today take the world by storm...why families living in the deep mid west were suddenly decorating their homes with bold and bright post depression era delights such as large scale robust tropicals in places so rural and country it might have seemed odd...but alas it wasn't...it was innovation...inspiration and the works of artists...conjuring up crazy fun florals with palm fronds...birds...bamboo and anything to bring a lil South Beach flair to those looking to add personality and warmth to their decor...

This offering is for ONE YARD x 47 inches wide (91.44cm x 124.46cm) of premium unused thick and nubby traditional weave barkcloth...I have 10 yards available...unused original old stock yardage from an estate in California...a old surfer cottage of good juju...clean and immaculate...a very slight and I mean pretty much not seen...fold line down the center where it was folded on the bolt for the last 75 years...expect a unusual treat of vintage cotton divinity...A fiesta of tropical colors...fushias...burgundy...purple merlot...with electric limes and lolly pop lime...charcoal and dove gray fronds that have this unexpected surprise of caribbean powder blue that when combined with this colorway that you'd hardly expect...comes together as if it was always meant to be...testament to what I always say about barkcloth...when designing with it there are few rules...accented with a darkest chocolate that borders on black...with white accents...on what I call a deepest darkest turquoise green...not the blue kind...but the darkest green of a turquoise stone...lush and eye catching...certainly one of those things that will change your nest and in turn change your life...
