By the late 40's modernism was evolving through many twists and turns in the 20th century of victorian...arts and crafts...art deco...which softened in the 40's, but suddenly by 1945 modernism had sprouted wings and you could see the infusion of modernism in the designs of the time...like this striking and extremely rare pattern and WOWZA the colorway...I mean as collectors we wait for the day to photograph such wonders of the vintage textile art movement...this one has a look all its own...the use of TREES that take on this fun...sort of acid trippy abstract art appeal...a cross between realism and slight cartoon is what makes this so unique...the artist was talented...innovative and independent in their thinking...you can tell they thought like no one else...what a gift to be had...it is after all a test by the industry...a risk for an artist...but if successful the reward is great...
This offering is for ONE remnant of a never used original signed barkcloth...I have two available sold individually. Measures 24 inches wide x 45 inches long. A ground of a striking chartreuse lime...very creamy...a wonderland of trees in shades of dark tangerine...blood orange...and cantaloupe...with black and white accents...the trees come alive with the artistry of movement by techniques that add fluidity...shape and movement...it is a great talent of an artist that can make a fabric come to life...trees that look like someone was on schrooms designing this masterpiece...trees that resemble brain matter...or a poster of a brain in any doctors office USA! Signed "Standish Fabrics Vat Colored Preshrunk"....one is signed and one is not. A premier texture and traditional weight of original late 40's barkcloth...it is a collectors dream. Expect an experience when you open your package...of being transported back in time...
