My nana has a sewing basket...it was huge...and it sat beside her favorite chair in the living room...it had barkcloths and quilting fabrics spilling out of it at her Brielle cottage at the Jersey Shore...pop never touched it for all those years since nana's passing...denial...broken hearted...lonely and never truly recovering from the loss of his beloved Olive Lyon...his brokenness helping create memories for me of the woman who I never truly met...yet had such an influence on my life...her fabric stash testament to her love for cottage colors and styles...her love in the importance of creating a home for her children and grandchildren...one of comfort...ease...and enrichment...while many never recovered from that fateful day in 1958 when nana suddenly left this world...she did leave us with a legacy of mind...heart and house...for which I carry that torch today...at the very least through her love for textiles...
This offering is for ONE huge remnant of unused unwashed original old stock cotton hailing from the 1930’s...the height of what has become what’s known as shabby chic! A never used original old stock piece of yardage....I have TWO available sold individually. Each measures 78 inches long. If you love these old cottage prints and have that eye that is a blessing and a curse...you know what I mean...the some of us who have something special we see and recognize that often many others do not until we showcase it in just the way we envision...as a huge pillow duvet for that large queen size bed...or upholstered on a lovely french side chair stuffed to the gills with luxe alternative down stuffing...it is often only then our detractors see our eye in full bloom...our vision coming to life...if you are that person then I am certain you will know exactly what I am saying...recognizing the beauty and allure of fabulous in just small remnants of fabric and how truly they take over a room when hand made into beautiful treasures that more showcase textile art in luxe form...this wonderful never been used...never been washed and for surezle doesn't need a bath...pristine old stock...still stiff from coming hot off the looms circa 1938...but if nothing creates beauty more...it is the most significant....beautiful...and romantic of heart and self creamy yellow paired with creamy cocoas and lattes...come together to create a floral masterpiece of 1930's style...something that would never have been found downtown at the local Five n Dime...but at luxury high end elitist fabric stores where designers scheduled appointments with their beloved wealthy clients who had the money to spend to create the most sweet cottage spaces within turn of the century mansions around the country...but if that perfect creamy yellow isn't enough...well take a gander at these perfect pinks and dramatic handsome candied reds...magentas...bubble gum. pinks...sky and powder blues...lime and dark lime...with white accents...really do all they can to completely bring the intent of the designer of this textile to life...indeed that was a success!
