1920’s Incredible Art Nouveau RARE Crazy Quilt Unused in BOX Hand Tied DECO Coverlet Vintage Fabric

I have been incredible honored and fortunate to have been able to have a history where I crawled through attics from the NYC to Miami Beach where I could find heirloom beauties long forgotten...or perhaps kismet...the idea it was just waiting for you all along. I found this huge hand crafted crazy quilt in a big gift box beautifully folded with a congratulations card atop...tied with a silk ribbon and presented as a wedding gift and never used...remaining in the box for someone to come along and save it. I am the quilt savior! It’s been 30 years since finding this in a cedar built attic at a estate sale of a 1920’s mansion in the aristocratic town of Spring Lake, New Jersey.

This offering is for a HUGE quilt...in brand new hand made condition using rayon and silks from the 1920’s in a Art Deco...Art Nouveau style that embodies a movement...a time. where pattern and colors came together to play harmoniously together. This quilt was made in the 1920’s and put away for 100 years. Remaining as new and flawless as the day someone or some people created this beauty. I have a special passion and appreciation for hand works...the creative movement of hands creating...often during times of stress...excitement about a wedding...the heart of a gift...so many emotions and thoughts go into each stitch...what was the maker thinking while creating. A myriad of nouveau colors...creamy lime...shell pink...aubergine mts chocolate...eggplant...purple...creamy yellow...coppery pink...lollipop lime...custard cream with a lavender solid border and lavender solid backside...with a black feathered stitch...and hand tied throughout...the maker a ardent professional...every bit of this is sheer perfection. It measures 79” x 86 inches with a nice finished border. Exquisite and gorgeous. You’d think 100 years being stored it might have an odor...nope...smells like nothing...air...clean air...perfect to place slinkily over a sofa or chair...or over the end of a bed. Definitely for someone special with an eye and appreciation like me! While the box is long gone...its been stored in plastic for 30 years. Flawless.
