An honor to attic finds! This very fabulous vintage 30's 40's yardage I am cutting into pillow/cushion size cuts...spared an encounter with scissors for all these years...it came from Meier & Frank Co. Inc Department Store...Portland Oregons "own store" as they billed themselves...I was fortunate to acquire a wealth of never used old stock yardage that came to me in its original box...with original receipt...still folded and string tied around the box...from December 9th 1943...the year after my dear mother was born...the height of WWII and likely a time of many a housewife looking to create beauty and warm aesthetics at a time of war and unrest that threatened the comfort of most homes around the country at the time...working with textiles and home furnishings were a way of distraction...but also a way of creating a home that would give the illusion that everything was fantastic...beautiful and "normal" for which to raise their children...this yardage was sold to Mrs. B Hayes at the price of $1.19 a yard...this attic find was preserved for all this time...protected in a time capsule of a home waiting for the day it would be appreciated and revered as precious as it is...
This offering is for ONE YARD x 48 inches wide of unused unwashed old stock barkcloth cotton rayon faille...I have 10YDS available sold by the yard. A sophisticated weft...texture and grain that combined with the heirloom cottage Victoriana florals with a French style romanticism. A soft palette so soft and heart stroking...is ready to melt hearts and romance souls...a essence so soft and beautiful its as if this fabric is viewed through a lens covered with gauze as the Hollywood starlets used to demand to be filmed. It is signed "Design Kingsley"...a ground of latte cream...with french roses in blush and shell pinks...deep dark rusty burgundy roses...creamy golden chartreuse...with creamy shades of robins egg blue...cocoas...lattes...foliage in dark lime...wasabi avocado...minty celery green...with dark chocolate and white accents. Buy as many as you need snd it will come in continuous yardage. Flawless original old stock preserved and curated by yours truly.
