Imagine time traveling...back to Miami Beach 1930’s at then height of celebrating the Art Deco infusion of tropicals into the swank velvet...mohair and damask scene...it was as if Miami Beach was the template for a style and allure that was all its own...combining wild tropicals...jungle vibes...a robust cascade-ment of lush florals...leafy tropics...something you would see bedecking the stucco hotels outside...commanding a stop buy visitors to revel in amazement at their body of stature and color craziness. It was a design phenomena that attracted the likes of the 1939 World Fair with design tents set up to showcase to the world barkcloth...and its innovation of wash and wear...strength and durability and most of all vat dyed to prevent fading. It was an upheaval of design conservatism and delved into the brazen and unusual...attracting a certain type of “tropical at heart”.
This offering is for ONE ready to hang unused unwashed original drapery curtain panel...I gave TWO available sold individually...draperies that have been made from the original bolt with a fabulous black out lining that simply elevate to a whole other level. I have had this bolt since 1989 when I bought a complete abandoned fabric store in Miami Beach...a boarded up building in a sketchy area that is now the Miami Design District. A creamy fresh dove gray ground with lush birds of paradise...ornate leafery that captures the spirit of Hawaii...Tahiti...Miami...Beverly Hills...or wherever birds of paradise grow indigenous. A ton of magenta...juicy pinks...bubble gum...pool aqua...teal turquoise...dark and milky chocolate...chartreuse...charcoal...with white accents. These draperies are heavy with texture galore...and the added black out lining adds a sturdiness and heaviness that will give them many lives. Each has a 43 inches wide x 80 inches long. There is a rod pocket at the top and I think hanging with sophisticated ring clips would take these to another level. If you love old...vintage...have an antique heart in modern day...these are for you. Flawless.
