This offering is for ONE YARD of primo old stock original barkcloth! I have 8 yards available being sold by the yard! It measures ONE YARD x 49 inches wide. A great opportunity to own a fabric inspired likely by a designer in Colusa California in the late 30's in the boom of the American barkcloth industrial revolution! As a honor to designers who's designs were selected for print...they were given the task of selecting the name of the pattern...the process of selection of which fabrics went to production was quite interesting...I learned this from many designers who still lived that I met at shows and lectures I give on vintage textiles...there was a whole gallery of artists in the country who's primary mission as artists was to present large painted samples of the design...with all the colors used noted in color blocks along the edge of the painting...submitted anxiously to textile manufacturing design review boards...and then payment to the designer was made once their design was selected...most were consultant artists...and some larger fabric manufacturing companies like Waverly etc had their own artists on staff...so for me as someone who appreciates every ounce of effort that goes into these iconic prints...I find the most value in the art itself and the time and inspiration of it all...really draws me in...it always has...I can study the details of a pattern and just always find beauty and a something that maybe I missed the last time...but aside from all of the wonderful collectible values in this pattern and colorway...its a fabric and pattern indigenous to Colusa California...one of the original cities to California established in 1850 on the Sacramento River...and was special to some designer's heart we may never know...but their legacy in this never used original old stock of thick and nubby barkcloth...signed fabulously like that of a movie star..."Design Colusa Guaranteed to be Vat Prints"...the ground is a pale to medium rose pink with cobalts that fade to shades of periwinkle blues...jadite greens...grays...with white accents...a definite winner from my Florida Bungalow!
