I'm absolutely wild and crazy about this fabric...reminds me of something my nana on my Irish fathers side would have had in her cottage home...I watched the movie "Brooklyn" the other night and it reminded me so much of my dear lineage...my nana and pop pop came here through Ellis Island in the 30's...my nana worked as a domestic for a wealthy New Jersey aristocratic family..while my pop pop was a horse groomsman...he worked for Laurel Harding...the great granddaughter of President Harding...she has a wonderful old farm in Holmdel New Jersey high on a hill...with a long fenced dirt road of stately hundred year old apple trees planted perfectly in sync...she had a concrete fountain as deep as a pool with a woman spouting water...she would strip to our undies and take a swim...waiting for pop to finish his horse duties...I can still remember the smell of summer nights at dusk at the Jersey Shore...where farmlands and historic countryside was a easy 10 minute drive inland...it is where my grandparents met...married and raised their 5 kids...in a home they all built by scratch...from a torn down farm house...recycling the brick and wood to build a beautiful home on Patterson Avenue in Shrewsbury...it is where I know my nana and her Irish brogue...her love for Irish green...limerick green and darkest robust greens...that she brought to life in her home...and where she passed at the young age of 56 surrounded by the loves of her life...her husband and children.
This auction is for ONE YARD x 49 wide (91.44cm x 124.46cm) of a never before used fantastical shabby cottage smooth cotton... have 9 yards available...so TONS of vintage cottage sweetness here! a deep dark teal green…I always call it bottle green…like the dark old bottles of yesteryear with wonderful shades of limerick jadeite greens...limes...lemon...chartreuse yellow lime...shell pink...rustic coral tangerines...dark chocolate and of course white...with this unusual and spectacular shade of powder blue as a remote accent...this fabric is as stiff and unused as the day it was made...waiting and willing to transport you back to Brooklyn circa 1930's 40's 50's...where you could walk into a dry goods shop and purchase this very fabric...let Florida Bungalow be your transport to days passed...expect perfection...absolutely stored as if in a time capsule for all these last 75+ years..
