Chinoiserie has been around for thousands of years...always re-emerging in various period styles...the 1950's was no exception...emerging in primitive scenes of the orient...with a more modern take on it...almost comic book in the use of colors...so bold and electric really...all showcased on this SUPER RARE cobalt blue ground that is something you would have had to be around circa 1950 in the design scene to get a gander at that...cause to this ardent obsessed collector of 30 years...I have never seen this pattern in cobalt...I've had it in red and another in a black ground...even a white ground...but this COBALT...is something more special than the rest...on a collectibility scale it pales in comparison to any other asian prints from the mid century that I can think of...I'm always taken to the 1950's with this fabulous prints...and how in typical americanna fashion we designed mid century atomic ranches sparse in decor...Eames...McCobb...Frankyl...mixed with fantastic period barkcloth in such high fashion as this...so know you are getting something with far more grandeur...and a #10 on the brag-worthy scale...
This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide...I have 7 yards available...never used original thick and nubby traditional weave barkcloth...this junque be heavy kids...off the original bolt magically here for you to feast your eyes 65 years later...radiant eye popping reds...electric creamy lime...gray...charcoal gray...turquoise green...tangerine burnt umber with white accents on a pure dark cobalt blue ground...but its that chartreuse yellow lime mixed in here that takes this over the top...a nice treat for someone with something special to upholster...or for that designer who knows full well the power of a good pillow made of such knock out premium vintage treasures...a once in a lifetime opportunity from Florida Bungalow's Museum Store!
