This offering is for ONE YARD x 35 inches wide of a true Art Nouveau dream ...I have 5 yards available being sold by the yard...it is as brand new feeling and looking as if you just returned with your local fabric shop on Main Street on horse drawn carriage to make a splendid purchase for which to adorn your fancy schmancy deco…rococo victorian revival and eclectic home...in a pattern of lighter upholstery/drapery smooth cotton...in a pattern and texture called Cretonne...a small town in France. In the late 1800’s it started showing up on American shores...still billed as cretonne...but in the 1930’s it started showing up in the same patterns but as a heavier barkcloth. If I had a dime for every boomer who stalked my flea market spaces screaming :”my muthha had cretonne” in their Staten Island accents!!! lol. it is very well made and of a cotton from a time when it was pure...untouched by chemists and the human hand of earthly destruction that lessened the strength and durability of cotton by genetically modifying its pure form. A chino...beige...mocharita...with some very large plaid squares within the floral and bird patternry. Deep dark coastal navy blue...magenta pink purple...olive...chocolate...dark dark chocolate...golden caramel with bubble gum and white accents. This fabric has been stored immaculately for the last 140 years!!! Incredible to find such grandeur at all...let alone in unused original old stock yardage. No odors or wear...no fading...just fabulous antique old stock.
