Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramaic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I am known for the antique shows and textile shows throughout the country and especially Miami Beach. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy.
This offering is for ONE barkcloth pillow cover with INSERT. This Polynesian scenic beauty is a HAWAIIANA playground...a 1950's perspective in a fun whimsical portrayal of primitive life. This 1940's unused textured nubby barkcloth was cut from a bolt of original 40's fabric I had for decades. A rare crisp black unused nubby barkcloth with cute island peoples...Thailand perhaps...banana trees...coconut trees...palm trees...kids climbing a coconut palm for a little nut...an island boy weaving a net...and PINEAPPLES..did I say PINEAPPLES!!! Lots of dark teal green and limes...lemon yellow...orange red...dove gray...lemon yellow...dark chocolate and lattes...pops of creamy aqua blue...asparagus lime...with black and white accents. Paired with a swank double piping in lemon yellow and aqua turquoise and a backside in a nubby barkcloth multi stripe by Full Swing Fabrics that is a retired print. It measures 22 " x 20" in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. Hawaiiana has long been a part of my life...despite being raised in the north and Florida...my leanings have always been hula hula...coconuts and pineapples...to be Hawaiiana means you can dwell in Alaska and still have a tropical heart.
