Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramatic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I am known for the antique shows and textile shows throughout the country and especially Miami Beach. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy.
This offering is for ONE barkcloth pillow cover WITRH INSERT. Gramercy Park...Nob Hill...Beverly Hills...Newport Rhode Island's mansion row...are places this pillow dreamed of belonging. A original 20's 30's bolt of this fabric was cut to make this swank relic of past and present. It has roots in Rhode Island as it comes from the Mancini collection that I bought in 2013 from her storefront on Thames Street in Newport. Mancini co-authored the book "Fabulous Fabrics of the 20's 30's 40's and 50's". A opulent blush peachy pink rich and classic satin damask...you can't begin to absorb the luxury without seeing it in person. Swags of pearls...tropical leaves make this something that would have been on any velvet sofa in any Miami Beach hotel with Art Deco style that was expensive then and a textile not nearly as much as its rock counterpart...diamonds...just palpable luxury here to court you! Paired with a deep dark charcoal gray backside and a original tussled trim in slate charcoal that is original old stock from the 40's. It measures 22 " x 22" in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. These rich aristocratic pillows could so easily fit into any space and add instant glam and pomp and circumstance of old school Hollywood! I have another with a deep dark teal emerald velvet backside and tussled charcoal trim in my shop. The last couple photos are a photoshoot I did with its runway sisters.
