Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramatic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I am known for the antique shows and textile shows throughout the country and especially Miami Beach. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy.
This offering is for ONE barkcloth pillow cover WITH INSERT. With all the zeal of South Beach...you can almost imagine this swank mister lounging about on a luxe tufted emerald green hotel sofa circa 1938 in the Colony Hotel. A unused cut from the original 1930's bolt of barkcloth...this nubby textured beaut has everything to bring a sparkle of glam into your life. A vanilla cream ground with creamy banana yellow and latte cocoa bamboo stalks that are a rare treat on tropical barkcloth...radiant candied reds...jadeite greens...coral pinks...bubble gum...emerald...creamy tangerine and coral oranges...deep dark saturated lime....darkest chocolate...with white accents. Paired with a drive to embrace the art deco-ness of the period I used a short pixie cut coral pink brush fringe...and a pop of emerald piping with a nubby latte barkcloth backside. It measures 23 " x 21" in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. It's right out of South Beach...literally...from a bolt off fabric I acquired in 1989 from a closed fabric store in what is now the Miami Beach Design District.
