Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramatic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I am known for the antique shows and textile shows throughout the country and especially Miami Beach. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy.
This offering is for ONE barkcloth pillow cover and INSERT. Panthers & Palms the spectacular brainchild of Spectrum Fabrics...a pattern born to the post Art Deco Miami Beach design scene. A pattern made for the South Beach hotels as a collaboration for the tourism of the time and ignited by the 1939 World's Fair where they did textile exhibits of textiles of the time that were for the first time in history being mass produced. This unused original 1930's old stock has a crisp white ground with burgundy merlot and fire orange red...charcoal and dove grays...jadeite bold lime...chartreuse...dark teal...with black accents. Paired delightfully with a coordinating bold lime piping trim and a highly expensive and rare teal and cream zebra VELVET that I found in the storage closet of the St James Hotel in South Beach. They had club chairs in the height of the Art Deco scene in this pattern of which I saw with my own eyes torn and ruined. So to find the left over bolt was a dream come true. It measures 20 " x 20" in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. It is a rare occurrence to find such madness in pattern form with such intoxicating colors. Surely a invitation to have a seat on your chair would be the cats MEEEOW!
