A Hippodrome is a ancient horse racing and chariot racing stadium in Greece. The word Hippodrome itself means "Horse Racecourse". These abstract imagery of ghostly horses were a popular example of where the minds of the greats were. Sascha Brastoff's art was a common theme of horses in various perspectives...and this one is very similar to others I have seen of the same caliber. It is signed "Schumacher's Hand Print Hippodrome". Schumacher a high end reputable name in the 50's and still today remain a stellar example of some of the great textile companies who started the design home textile fashion movement and continue to inspire with their works.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 50 inches wide of unused unwashed old stock cotton yardage. I have 14YDS available sold by the yard. A fabulous celadon lime ground with thatched imagery in white...powder blue...lavender...and varied turquoise blues. This is a upholstery glazed cotton perfect for just about any project. A rare depiction of pure textile artistry...as brand new as the day it was made in the mid to late 50's. Expect perfect.
