MOD LEAVES...a mid century take on micro organisms...a edge of modernism extended to mid century fabrics of the late 40's and 50's when a few very daring and brazen designers were testing their wings...further engaging the world in the idea of modernism that was sweeping the nation...if it wasn't for these early pioneers who felt so strongly in their hearts that their mission was to influence the world with a dose of their vision...their celebration of space and science and how they could inspire a movement that would become known as Mid Century Modern...Eames...Bauhaus...Eichler and Knoll...the brains behind the movement have always been the designers who created the idea and brought it to fruition...seldom lending their name...their artistic stamp...often overlooked for the more magnanimous designer names who owned the companies they designed for...but I assure you if I can assure you of nothing else...the appreciation that I have for these rare and iconic textiles...are not celebrated so much for the company label on the selvedge of a textile...but for the silent revolutionary of mind and spirit who first conjured this all up...the ones we never heard about who sketched and painted scenes behind a desk obscurely.
This offering is for THREE YARDS x 45 inches wide of a fantastic rayon with tons of fab fluidity...movement...with a crisp feeling that sings how it was never used or washed. A glowing crisp white ground with berry red...turquoise teal green...bold as hell chartreuse...with black accents...the art of sparse biomorphics on lots of white solid ground was the art of the day that captured the beauty in this 1950's relic. Expect as brand new off the bolt as you can possibly get from this 70 year old diva!
