In the 40's and 50's every kid wanted to be a cowboy and back then there were plenty of well mannered young girls who were being raised more conservatively...who secretly also dreamed of being a cowgirl...it was the television depictions of the 40's and 50's...shows like Gene Autry...Hoppalong Cassidy...Gunsmoke and the idea of being out in the primitive plains being manly men...lassoing horses...commanding rodeos and showing off all their machismo to the single girls who just admired a man who could command a horse or Rodeo...these iconic images of western like became fixtures in the American boys bedroom...where they could fall asleep at night with visions of western cowboys in their heads...a style and depiction of early settler life that still today is used in many a little boy or little girls bedroom...and with collectors of these fantastic vintage textiles...they now hang proudly in living rooms...offices...and dens...even customized for campers and Airstream trailers to recreate authenticity...today when we reflect back to that early settler life...we are reminded of some of the key values of cowboys...and that was chivalry...
This auction is for ONE YARD x 36 inches wide of unused unwashed brand new old stock 1950's yardage...now these western textiles all have different values...some more collectible than other based on pattern and colorway...I've essentially seen them all...some were sold at Five n Dimes while others were more elite and expensive and were sold more at fabric shops...this one was more of a Five n Dime...very stunning design inspirations of RODEO...a lighter weight drapery upholstery fabric...and I can certify that it has been a very long time since I've seen the likes of this pattern and colorway...it is utterly breathtaking...candy apple red...turquoise sky blue...creamy asparagus limes...deep dark ravishing chocolates...cocoas...coffee...with black and white accents. Definitely for the ardent cowboy westernalia collector...expect TOP NOTCH...unheard of SPECTACULARISM at its very finest...at a even more spectacular price. Flawless.
