Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramatic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I am known for the antique shows and textile shows throughout the country and especially Miami Beach. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy.
This offering is for ONE barkcloth pillow cover with INSERT...a fabric that is such a find of a precious commodity in a very thoughtful ICONIC...SWANK...GLITZ and Glamour...my friend Lucy from Miami Beach gave me the whole story...its one of the most rare of the tropicals and is signed "A Gay Lee Design Hollywood Hand Print by Walter of California"...it is thick and nubby and expensive as hell of course for such premium beauty...Walter of California was a Los Angeles based textile company that worked exclusively with California hotels...the Beverly Hills Hotel as well as movie stars...a ground of huge birds of paradise in latte ecru...with chartreuse and golden chartreuse leaves...a candied red...turquoise and dark deco sea with dark chocolate and white accents. This art piece made from unused textured nubby barkcloth...I always appreciate a good fabric signature...so I capitalized on that by including the actual signature exposed along the piping trim at the bottom (see pics) a trait exclusive to my work. Paired with a crisp white linen cotton backside and a popping turquoise trim. It measures 23 " x 23" in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. As if you are being taken back in time to a dinner cocktail party circa 1948 with dear Walter of Hollywood.
