For one special soul...today is the day they've been anxiously awaiting!! Born in 1905...George Farkas was determined to make his mark on the world and showcase his vision. And his vision was noticed by the great artists who's names he appears beside...but it was his industrial conceptualism of shifting his paintings to textiles with the help of Spectrum fabrics circa 1948 when he teamed with them to turn one of his pain tings into textile yardage...a hand print of pure dream...as if you woke up ion a candy colored dream of monstera leaves and birds of paradise...these hand prints are some of the most collectible today...especially signed by artists and with the Spectrum label. Farkas was born in Hungary and thrived with his art in america. His works showcased in a MOMA Museum textile exhibit in Manhattan in 1947. This example of post Art Deco mid century modern is exactly what all my Miami Beach queens collected back sun the 80's when I was just a mere spectator of their grandiosity and learning from their pristine eyes for only the best and most fabulous. Well...here you have it.
This offering is for ONE unused unwashed salesman sample of sheer spectaculars...a heavyweight smooth cotton canvas...serged at the top and bottom as customary with original rare salesman samples. A deep dark brand new black ground with jadeite green huge monstera leaves...lobster like chartreuse birds of paradise stems that look industrial meets cartoon! Candied red...charcoal gray with white accents on black. Signed "A Spectrum Original Hand Print George Farkas Design". if you love brand new old stock...then this is the one to have. The degree of fabulous that this fabric could create simply folded in a collection or created into masterful pillows or a repeat framed in a mirrored frame...would just be great ways to honor dear George!
