These delightful patterns of novelty fabrics from the 50's are just so iconic and tantalizing...each tiny little scene...each speck of a person or flower or artifact send me...a palpability incomparable to todays fashions and leanings...something of a visitor...a treasured friend showing up for a visit after 70 years and they've aged not at all...in fact this treasure showed up without even a wrinkle...a blemish...still looking radiant like a twenty-something...after all these years...if only we could have the same luck.
This offering is for 3+YDS x 35 inches of unused unwashed fun and festive Danish fabric rife with culture and festive mayhem...bedecked in costumes...my friend and soul sister Emily has a passion for Denmark and she always says the word "Hygge"...goes far in illuminating the Danish soul...in essence...hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people...the warm glow of candlelight is hygge...cozying up with a loved one for a movie – that's hygge, too. I love that whole ideology and makes me think of a new year that is festive...cultural...warm...cozy and bright. A tomato red ground is the backdrop for the scenic imagery of this rare novelty beauty...I love bubble gum pink with red...and I even like it better with lemon yellow...asparagus lime...and black and white accents. A city square with all the bells and whistles to create some kind of special textile magic...and while this fabric was made for novelty items...clothing...souvenirs...and if you line it...I'd even consider it for light upholstery. It is brand new old stock...ready to spread come cozy cheer!
