Incredible...unheard of relic from days past! I have never seen this iconic print before...but it has many unique entities that determine its age and origin...the use of Lurex thin gold threading in the weave is very much 50's...which is all you really need to know to determine this textile came out around the same time Moulin Rouge the movie by Britannica by John Huston and starring Zsa Zsa Gabor and Jose Ferrer. Depictions of 1890's Paris nightclub. It is done in poster form as if poster printed on textile. It is signed "Exclusive Hand Print GAY PAREE Museum Collection". A larger than life depiction of Moulin Rouge and all the cancan girls you can conjure up...have this beauty framed like I did in the last photos of another similar depiction...pop some popcorn and let the art work show begin!
This offering is for ONE unused unwashed brand new old stock salesman sample...unheard of to find such trend setting period goodness...with scenery that is sure to knock your socks off...so much electricity in the colors...a coffee chocolate ground with hot pink...creamy charcoal...chartreuse yellow...gold metallic...palest pink...with cocoa and black and white accents. If I had to guess...this fabric was created to be framed as fabric posters in relation to the Moulin Rouge Show circa 1952. Expect wonderful...rare as can be...something you won't see again. Clean...stored and protected well over the course of the last 70 years. Measures 50 inches wide x 34 inches long. Who doesn't need a little GAY PAREE in their life!! Flawless.
