Mural fabrics starting making their debut in American design in the 1940's...popular for sliding door applications that were starting to become a perk in design influence...a traditional mural fabric was a full pattern that would have been about 100 inches long...this preserved unused relic is not a full length in pattern...as it does have a several repeats of the design...with the scale and idea paralleling each other. So I do see mural embodiments in this fabric...and how framing fabulous would it be a yard of this framed behind glass in a mod white clunky acrylic frame...always my go to frame for these bold pieces. Creating art of textiles is one of the most efficient way of creating impactful art...saving you thousands on expensive paintings...even with some of the high end pieces...you are still creating million dollar art for peanuts.
This offering is for 2.6YDS x 49 inches wide of a slub cotton....unused...unwashed...in a pattern that is unbelievable...the pattern and colors a Birdseye view into the mind of an artist...who created the magic for the textile tycoons who profited heavily while the artist barely gets any recognition...except here at Florida Bungalow were have an appreciation for the artistry of these prints...an homage to the creators who tirelessly created beauty from their minds...to sketch...to painting...to print as fabric. if you appreciate the that special time between the end of the 50's and the start of the 60's...it is like an education in textile history...you can see then abstractness changing...the imagery shifting...it was the 60's and that would usher in a whole new view of creativity on cotton. A colorway OMG...you can't even make this up...to the degree it is rare...is it just even more fabulous in person...and while it isn't a full mural...it does have repeats...and would make the kind of framed high end art that no one else on earth will have. Turquoise Caribbean blue...candy apple red...periwinkles blues...asparagus and dark lime...dark teal turquoise...deepest darkest teal...chartreuse lime...chartreuse lemon...with white accents.
