Humans have always been so inventive...innovative...always in pursuit of building skill sets and improving...inspiring and influencing society...it is evident in these mid century designs...as designers were using new products in the creation of their fabrics...and Lurex was one of those mid century modern components that was memorable and adored by most enthusiasts and sneered at by the traditionalists who couldn't embrace the design changes of modernism...Lurex is a shiny glittery thread...in this fabric it is gold...but it was also used in silver...creating an edgy modern textile uniquely and vastly different from the rest...iconic...historic...and memorable...
This offering is for ONE unused unwashed curtain/drapery panel...I have another also available sold individually. Unused original old stock 1950's rayon/fiberglass/acetate with that fabulous gold lurex thread woven throughout...a crisp white ground with bold watermelon red...asparagus lime...varied charcoal and creamy grays...with black accents. ...stored fabulously...and in brand new condition...this was part of the collection of Michelle Mancini's collection that I acquired...she was the founder of Full Swing Textiles and co authored the book "Fabulous Fabrics of the 20's 30's 40's & 50's". Her signed tag is still attached to the corner of the one as shown in the photos. identified as fiberglass and lurex in a pattern of mobiles. They made it this long never being hung...can you imagine the unparalleled beauty and rare-ness that creates? Just stunning.
