The 50's was a unique time to be alive...the machine age was perfecting itself over the decades and it left room for designers to really test their talents...it was a time of celebrating advances in space and science...social justice and wacky art...and at the same time there was this air of modernism sweeping through neighborhoods...at first it was thought to be evil by the traditionalists...they thought modernism was akin to witchcraft...humans have always had difficulty adjusting to change...which is why the mid century mind is really a brave one...it was a time of bringing together un expected objects...new things to the eye...a avant grade-ness of kitschy prints and graphics in the novelty circuit. it is ready to bedazzle even the most mundane of hearts!
This offering is for ONE YARD x 36 inches wide of unused yardage...I have 6YDS available sold by the yard...a warm chocolate ground with biomorphic leafy designs with trippy colonial designs...home interiors...tea sets...hurricane lamps...grandfather clock...canisters and a vase with flowers. I can see these used in so many design plans...certainly with turquoise formica and chalkware lamps with turquoise and pink shades...maybe a blonde Heywood Wakefield mid century dining table...some fab pastel pottery...or maybe these would be fabulous in a more loft modern like setting...incorporated into a more contemporary design plan of today...whatever your fancy...expect fabulous as the end result...editorial! Note: there is a fold line down center where it was folded on the bolt forever. Otherwise brand new unused unwashed old stock.
