Living at the Jersey Shore there was a shabby chic-ness that was almost cultural...the 90's and 2000's were antique shops filled with great textiles...estate sales were plentiful to find sweet cottage prints reflective of the close knit Victorian homes nestled throughout the Jersey Shore...see...the Jersey Shore is really its own little state :) it is like going back in time to true Victoriana. Ellis Island and immigrants making their homes within an hours travel of NYC...many roots starting early in Jersey City and small cities right outside of NYC...but as the population grew those immigrants settled further north at the Jersey Shore...staking claim in the best soil in the country for which to grow flowers and vegetable gardens...of course corn and tomatoes...cockscomb and roses are just a few of specialties from where I was raised so old fashioned...and this fabric...just laying my eyes on it...takes me back to my nana porch...rocking on a white wicker rocking chair out into her garden of roses...figs...and every vegetable she desired was pops job to plant it. I love that I have those sweet memories...and they can be evoked by a simple piece of antique fabric...ahh yes...memories...
This offering is for ONE YARD x 36 inches wide of unused unwashed original old stock...I have 4YDS available being sold by the yard...a polished cotton of sorts...more unglazed or light chintz...not a ton of glaze like chintz...more of a soft glorious cotton. For the 36 width of this fabric...I always liked making huge pillow shams for bedding...it suits it perfect...but ya know I also love a cottage floral framed in a chippy frame commanding attention in the boudoir! A creamy perfect pink ground with fantastic bold radiant colors...varied turquoise blue greens...coral red pinks...limes...asparagus...purples...lavender...chartreuse golden yellow...with burgundy and white accents. Signed appropriately " A Waverly Bonded fabric Princess Anne". Expect perfect.
