I once had a friend...a very aged glamorous queen from the 80's and 90's who was my Miami Beach influence...I've written about him over the years and how his light shone on me...his name was Alexander...we met on a park bench on Ocean Drive in the 80's...I...a naive young queen in barely my twenties...he a nearly 80 year old man. He was formal in that he wore a full suit each day with sneakers and was nothing without his little market cart...dare I say old lady cart! We had so many laughs...but it was his sense of style...his Art Deco tropical fanfare inside his apartment he inhabited during some of Miami Beach's most prosperous. times...and lived to see it downtrodden too. His apartment filled with the most iconic colorful pieces of barkcloth...a sensational array of colorful pottery...he just had it all...sombrero barkcloth lampshades atop fanciful chalk ware lamps...he was the cats meow to me...and I to him...and while romantically it didn't go as he had hoped with me...we became two people who would see each other and our faces would light up. This colorful funky and fun piece reminds me so much of him...his apartment...his ilk...his creative conjuring of things all wrapped up in a delicacy...vibe and style that is all...ALEXANDER.
This offering is for 1.7YDS x 49 inches wide of the most fabulous unused...unwashed original old stock that is in brand spanking new condition...a art form like no other...feast your eyes on these abstract flowers...huts...that remind me of the old Hawaiian drive in motels along AIA in Miami Beach...a color way of pure SWANK...a darkest chocolate ground with striking turquoise...chartreuse lime...tangerine orange...chartreuse yellows...dove gray...with black and white accents. It is like a birds eye view from the sky of grass huts...and crazy flowers...as if Alexander came to pay me a visit for a spell. Expect iconic in every way...unwashed...unused yardage...would be crazy framed to really capture the abstractness and colors...acrylic frames babeeee...they are soooo back. Perfection.
