What I find interesting as a someone obsessed with textiles...and as a collector...is the story telling of history as decades and periods evolved...the western fabrics never losing their excitement in the consumer markets...but showing slightly different styles that can be seen barely by the trained eye...which is exactly what I love about collecting...the 40's and 50's has a more textured barkcloth and the prints with less facial imagery...rarely were faces of people in the fabrics detailed...instead blurred...here you can see by the 60's the designs has evolved to more detailed faces...more straight lines...and a more canvas barkcloth.
This offering is for ONE remnant cut...enough for two pillows...all that is left of this pattern and rarely seen if at all...signed "A Riverdale Fabric Design Gabby Hayes Best Obtainable Vat Dyes". A neutral ecru ground with a red orange pop...lime...teal turquoise...chocolate....electric chartreuse lime...sky blue...pale blue..flesh tone pink...taupe...banana yellow with black and white accents. This is unwashed...unused and immaculate. Measures 49 inches wide x 18 inches long. Immaculate. Flawless.
