The 50's was alive with so many ideas and inspirations for textiles. It was a world we'd never seen before with the mass production of goods part of the industrial revolution fed by the machine age that enabled machines to do work. It allowed parents to start families as factories opened...the more people...the more workers...the more machines...and the more consumer goods. It was the birth of consumerism...that thing which is blessing and a curse...gave way in the mid century for design creativity...pushing limits in home and fashion trends...I mean...hey...kitty cats of gingham and turquoise bow ties? Someone envisioned something cute...modern and fashion forward.
This offering is for 3YDS x 45 inches wide of a rayon garment fabric....slinky and fluidous...a bit heavier than a scarf fabric...probably perfect for a dress or skirt. Black...white and turquoise...yup that's it...and what art it created. Unused unwashed yardage from the 50's.
