I've carried this spectacular...intoxicating...unusual...seratonin uplifting yardage around with me for 30 years...it is by far one of my most personal favs...not only because of its immence rare beauty...colors that just send me to the moon...but the story...the thrill of the hunt...it was the original furniture and drapery fabric left over from Grossingers Resort and Hotel...made famous by the movie "Dirty Dancing". The 1950's was kicking in the Borscht Belt...seasonal regular tourists flocked from most every borough of NYC to the Catskills Mountains...it must have been something to see...unfortunately I wasn't around back then...but I was around in the early 90's when it seemed like the Catskills was back on the mend...from decades of decline after tourists started flocking to other destinations by air and boat...no longer just a station wagon ride away...I was however fortunate enough to attend an auction in Liberty NY...the estate of one of the original owners of Grossingers who had a warehouse chock full of just about any salvage you can think of...in that warehouse was this spectacular fabric. I have coveted it since.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 50 inches wide of the best of the best...I have 16YDS Avail. sold by the yard. Rare because I guarantee you won't ever see it again...I know this because I have waited...a fabulous dark shimmery chocolate with hot magenta pink...true electric chartreuse...dark teal...aqua turquoise blue...lime...with black and white accents. It is signed "Hand Print". By all accounts this was custom designed and printed for a something high end...possibly Grossingers dining room! I have carried it around for decades...it has been everywhere with me :) my many moves...its been well traveled and remains flawless unused unwashed yardage.
