It was the late 1940's and early 1950's and the height of the machine age and mass production of textiles...mass production of everything...goods... and hey even KIDS...it was the calm before the baby boom...so designers were clamoring for new innovative ideas for textiles that would inspire and ignite a storm of shoppers excited to use fun and crazy textiles that really evolved from the Art Deco Movement and directly inspired by hotels that lined Ocean Drive in Miami Beach...where these fun and crazy prints came to life entertaining tourists in lobby bars and special guest suites...it was an exciting time to be alive to witness such innovation and beauty...these would have been one of the more draperies and prints to come out of the mid century deco design era.
This offering is for ONE very large fanastical rare pattern drapery panel with seams all around it...I have 5 available being sold individually...a rare chartreuse ground...crisp deep dark unfaded black...teal green...red orange...with white accents. Measures 45 inches wide x 84 inches long...thickest and nubbiest as these barkcloth textures come! This panel has not been washed and is in extraordinary condition...just short of brand new. For this pattern however...for as collectible as it is...is one that will go down in the textile history books for being one the most eye popping and fantastical of them all!
