It is exactly these iconic eye romancing designs that are to me the most time transportive...a combination of my years salvaging from Miami Beach hotels in the 80's and 90's...and a little imagination...my memories of the hotels are like the flashbacks in the movie Titanic where the ship was shown underwater...decrepit...and then the film moves to the days of the ship in its most grand times and state. So these dramatic draperies with all of the pomp and circumstance of Mrs. Dorothy Draper herself...larger than life fan palms...on a busy ground of clustered bamboo stalks...there is only one way to describe this kind of scrumptious-ness...and that is JUNGLE MIAMI BEACH...sure maybe it harkens a royal sophistication...wealth and aristocratic-ism of Palm Beach...which is why this certainly must have hung in a premier penthouse suite...I'm thinking the grand opening in 1953 of the fabulous Fontainebleau Hotel which is feeding that imagination O minez! Mirrored dressers...velvet headboard...chalkware ballerina lamps...a couple of mohair minty green club chairs...huge flaming tigers in a mirrored Art Deco painting hung above the bed...windows overlooking the cool sea waters of the Atlantic...these draperies hung to the sill in all their Mid Century meets Art Deco glory...the perfect pastel palette as the prelude for the style and vibe notorious for grand Miami Beach...aka BOOM TOWN...and if you were lucky enough to be around circa 1953...you would have danced the night away in the club BOOMTOWN inside the exquisite Fountainbleau!
This offering is for ONE ready to hang drapery panel...this looks and feels never used...the fabric so crisp and brand new feeling...it is as if they were made and stored immediately...a myraid of spearmint...aqua...teal turquoise green blues...with flushings of white...I have TWO available being sold individually. A wonderfully thick traditional barkcloth...signed "A Roomaker Fabric Vat Prints"...I have had a bolt of this way back in the 90's and the tag identified this pattern as "Jungle". These panels are lined...even the lining is in brand new unused cond. I could so totally see this fabric made into some of the most dramatic sophisticated pillows! Each measures 46 inches x 58 inches long with a 5 inch hem. Expect brand new old stock.
