It is astonishing to me the level of sophistication there was circa 1955 when artists and textile companies were collaborating on various design aesthetics...but this one really roused me...it is called "Flight Deck"...which is a makeshift runway usually on a aircraft carrier at sea. I am always taken by the inspirations for textile designs...and appreciative of those who gave us not only clues...but signed it...cementing their design the the namesake for which is it was inspired. A mid century twist on organic...urban...aeronautics...nautical and done so with a swank level of glam in its texture...weight and colorway...making it a stand out among all the rest...the perfect accoutrement for any designer...collector or someone who just loves airplanes and flying.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 46 inches wide of mid 50's unused unwashed yardage. I have 6YDS available sold by the yard...the more you buy the more it will come in continuous yardage. The sophistication doesn't just end with the design masterpiece...it is a slinky rayon...very thin and luxe...it will slide joyfully through your hands...scarf like in light upholstery weight...these rayons had a whole other genre of collectors out there who relish in the slip and slide of these luscious textiles. A colorway so amazing...a jade mint green...milky chocolate...coral orange tangerine...chocolate pudding...deep dark chocolate and white accents...and finished with the iconic twist of gold metallic...an addition that didn't start showing up until the late 40's as modernism was being ushered in. Signed "A Waverly Bonded Fabric Flight Deck". Stored as if in a time capsule...flawless.
