The butterfly print...called "Butterflies in Flight"...has always been a long coveted print that originated in fabulous places like South Beach in Miami as well as many a Art Deco hotel in places like Los Angeles...Santa Monica...NYC...but especially wherever there was a tropical Art Deco movement that was innovative and inspired many through design...colorway and pattern...in the old deco Miami Beach hotels you would find draperies fashioned from this fabric...headboards tufted with it...club chairs mixed with butterfly fabric and a coordinating chartreuse or teal mohair embossed fabric with SWANK bullion fringe along the bottom...it was a look of then AND now...where designers and connoisseurs alike are recreating the magic of vintage barkcloth in vintage and contemporary projects of today...
This offering is for ONE HUGE hand tied comforter made of a gazillion remnants of the infamous pattern Butterflies in Flight which is a name I've coined this barkcloth many moons ago...it is what I saw in it that gave name to it...I've never seen such raw beauty of a butterfly depicted so perfectly...the time and effort that went into this pristine piece is unimaginable...there is a batting stuffed inside that makes it about 2 inches thick...there are intricate hand tied throughout...this comforter was made with exquisite details...someone who knew what they were doing...the sewing impaccable...the backside a soft luxe cotton...this would be so fab folded at the end of a bed...throw over a sofa for chilly nights...it is very useful...clean...not a bit of rare...colors are bold and bright...true red...pink...grays...chartreuse...lime...minty green...with black and white accents. This was made by a textile company called Spectrum Fabrics who created many of the most iconic prints still in existence. Measures 68" x 90". This looks brand new and unused...whoever made or preserved this went to great lengths to make sure it was flawless.
