I was doing a lecture on vintage textiles at the Sunken Gardens in St Pete Florida...a woman well into her 90's brought me bags of draperies she wanted to sell...the story was she had them in her home in the Old Northeast neighborhood of St Pete...if you ever get there you must drive through the brick streets and take a trip back in time! Her daughter was selling her home and this woman...her mother was going to live with the daughter. She was heartbroken to leave her home of her whole married life...was a widow...but was also very appreciative to have a place to go in her old age where she would be loved and wanted. Sometimes despite the collectability...pattern and colorway of a barkcloth...it is often the stories I've collected along the way that attach to my sentimental-ness of this stuff I'm obsessed. This woman now...15 years later surely has passed on...and I have done my earthly best to honor her and her draperies.
This offering is for ONE deconstructed fabric once a curtain...it is in swell condition...never washed...clean and sparkly...colors are very bold and bright on a black ground...this abstract atomic floral has all the makings of a artist who has their own vision...they marched to the beat of their own drum...created fun and crazy art on cotton along the way...this one being one of my very favs. Expect truly something rare here...it's almost as if the floral tree bouquets have springs. A concoction of great unusual and YES...CRAZY COLORS...true red...pink...creamy aqua and turquoise...lemon yellow...gray..creamy lime...dark teal green...with black and white accents. Definitely one for the collectors and designers. Expect strong...clean...and more like new than not. Measures 22 inches wide x 60 inches long. A flawless representation of someone’s unique spin and perspective on creating one of a kind pieces!
