The 1920's was really the start of vintage barkcloth as we know it...prior to that was what our grandmothers knew as cretonne...which was a lighter not heavily textured version of barkcloth...but the 20's kickstarted what we have come to know as Cottage Style or Shabby Chic...the use of beautiful roses and ostrich feathers is testament to a french inspiration that was popular in the french victorian period of the 1800's...being reproduced by american designers in the 1920's for the weathy aristocrats pre depression.
This offering is for ONE YARD x 34 inches wide of a very FANCY textured barkcloth...I have 6YDS available being sold by the yard...it is exquisite and has been stored for 100 years...can you imagine that? A beautiful cerulean blue ground with lifesize ostroch feathers and cascading cottage roses...a plethora of color...true red...bubble gum pink...coffee chino feathers...with shades of slight cocoa and cream...foliage in minty green...seafoam...jadeite and dark lime...check my close up pics for the fabulous texture...look closely and it is like a beautiful chain link of ornateness...simply divine and unbelieveable it is still around to tell her story a century later! Expect unused original old stock...unwashed...no odors...
